Fine, Thanks
03:44
|
|||
Thanks a lot, I’m feeling fine
Despite these awful thoughts of mine, it’s alright
Heartbeat keeping track of time and
Sending signals for my mind to unwind
So I sit here strumming strings and
Trying to forget the things that have been
Through it all I dare to gleam
Upon a face I’ve never seen, what a dream
Pondering the pieces of my history
Catching glimpses of the way it’s meant to be
Answering the stranger at the door
I’ve never felt like this before
He was raised the right-wing way
And there’s no harm in that I pray, it’s okay
As long as I don’t have to pay
Upon the sacred judgment day, then I’ll play (along)
I guess I’m not the only one
I chose to stay, they choose to run from the son
Finally the time has come, unleash the pandemonium from above
Pondering the pieces of my history
Catching glimpses of the way it’s meant to be
Answering the stranger at the door
I’ve never felt like this before

Angelo
04:02
|
|||
Angelo, don’t you know?
Oh, you can make it if you try
Let it go, take it slow
I suspect you’re in for a surprise
Never let ‘em tell you that you’re headed for a wall
Never let ‘em tell you that your head is too small
You’re the only one who’s gonna tell you what to do
Put it all together, now it’s nothing but the truth
Angelo, where’d you go?
Well I’ve been searching high and low
‘Cause the big bad world is no place for a child
Angelo, come on home
Out there lost and all alone
His poor imagination’s running wild
Angelo, to and fro
Oh, you put your teachers through a trial
Bells all toll, start the show
Oh, you turn an inch into a mile
Never let ‘em tell you that you’re headed for a wall
Never let ‘em tell you that your head is too small
You’re the only one who’s gonna tell you what to do
Put it all together, now it’s nothing but the truth
Angelo, where’d you go?
Well I’ve been searching high and low
‘Cause the big bad world is no place for a child
Angelo, come on home
Out there lost and all alone
His poor imagination’s running wild
Angelo, way to go
Knew you had it in you all this time
Ten years old, room to grow
See that fire burning in his eyes
Never let ‘em tell you that you’re headed for a wall
Never let ‘em tell you that your head is too small
You’re the only one who’s gonna tell you what to do
Put it all together, now it’s nothing but the truth
Angelo, where’d you go?
Well I’ve been searching high and low
‘Cause the big bad world is no place for a child
Angelo, come on home
Out there lost and all alone
His poor imagination took his mind on a vacation
That poor imagination’s running wild

Ghosts in the Graveyard
04:50
|
|||
Honey, I
I never knew, oh oh
What it was like
To be free
And honey, I
I never knew, oh no
Till there was you
Without a me
All alone, all you need
Are a couple notes and some words to sing
I put my eggs in a basket, fear in a casket, a smile upon my face
Ghosts in the graveyard, the paint on a boxcar, everything in its place
Honey, I
I always knew, oh oh
That it was not
Meant to be
And honey, I
I always knew, yes it’s true
That we were through
Before you ever said anything, ever said anything to me
All alone, all you need
Are a couple notes and some words to sing
I put my eggs in a basket, fear in a casket, a smile upon my face
Chalk on the concrete, kids in the backseat, planets in outer space
Sheets on a mattress, eyes on the actress, harmonica in its case
Ghosts in the graveyard, the paint on a boxcar, everything in its place
And it was not a big surprise
No I was not a bit surprised
Oh it was not a big surprise to me
But that don’t take away the sting
All alone, all you need
Are a couple notes and some words to sing
I put my eggs in a basket, fear in a casket, a smile upon my face
Chalk on the concrete, kids in the backseat, planets in outer space
Sheets on a mattress, eyes on the actress, camera in its case
Ghosts in the graveyard, the paint on a boxcar, everything in its place
Oh yeah, everything in its place
Yeah, everything in its place
Oh yeah, everything in its place

Rain on a Holiday
05:43
|
|||
Hear the rain fall along my misty window
It keeps the beat while I’m holed up inside
Hand reaching from beneath my pillow
To bridge the gap of a great divide
You tell me you just want to stay forever
As we get lost in each other’s eyes
Told you my heart is a rollercoaster
So you buckled up and prepared for the ride
It was a dream right from the start of it
Butterflies throughout every part of it
Why does it always have to rain on a holiday?
How is it that you know exactly what I’m gonna say?
It makes me wonder if I should’ve said it anyway
Oh, I never wanna frown on my yesterdays
(No, oh oh oh)
The heart is a rollercoaster
It’s raining, it’s pouring and when life gets boring
It’s time to rearrange, gotta make a change
Everybody needs a little place where they can just escape
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day
And if you could, I wish you would please wash away all my mistakes
‘Cause I could really use a clean slate
It was a dream right from the start of it
Butterflies throughout every part of it
Why does it always have to rain on a holiday?
How is it that you know exactly what I’m gonna say?
It doesn’t matter ‘cause I’ll probably say it anyway
Oh, I never wanna frown on my yesterdays
Why does it always have to rain on a Saturday
Just when the kids are about to go outside and play
If only one of us could keep all the storms at bay
Oh, I guess that’s just the state of the world today
My little girl, I just wanna hold you so tight
And tell you everything is gonna be alright
You were my dream girl from the start of it
Butterflies throughout every part of it
Why does it always have to rain on a holiday?
How is it that you know exactly what I’m gonna say?
It doesn’t matter ‘cause I’m gonna say it anyway
Oh, I never wanna frown on my yesterdays
Why does it always have to rain on a Saturday
Just when the kids are about to go outside and play
If only one of us could keep all the storms at bay
Oh, I guess that’s just the state of the world today
(No, oh oh oh)
The heart is a rollercoaster

Fearless
04:58
|
|||
(Lyrics by Water & Gilmour of Pink Floyd)
You say the hill’s too steep to climb
Chiding
You say you’d like to see me try
Climbing
You pick the place and I’ll choose the time
And I’ll climb the hill in my own way
Just wait a while for the right day
And as I rise above the treeline and the clouds, I look down
Hearing the sound of the things you said today
Fearlessly, the idiot faced the crowd
Smiling
Merciless, the magistrate turns round
Frowning
And who’s the fool who wears the crown?
No doubt, in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fear lines in his brow, you look down
Hearing the sound of the faces in the crowd

Just One Day
02:14
|
|||
I’m not a singer, but a poet
If you would listen closely, you would know it
Because the words will rhyme until the end of time
Unless the idioms refuse to show it
And if I loved you, for maybe just one day
Would that funny feeling stay?
Well I’m a poet, and not a singer
But it’s the only way that I can bring her
To feel the pain inside
As if it’s justified by music
And if you loved me, for maybe just one day
Would my spectrum fade to grey?
I’m not a leader, rather solo
But if you know the words, then I will follow
Because I’d rather die than make a compromise
To live a life that leaves me feeling hollow
And if I loved her, for maybe just one day
Would you let it stand in our way?
Well I’m a poet, and not a singer
But it’s the only way that I can bring her
To feel the pain inside
As if it’s justified by music
And if she loved me, for maybe just one day
Would this sorrow go away?
For maybe just one day

What Ya Can't Have
03:01
|
|||
Hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance
So hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance
Say, whatcha doing?
You know that path’s gonna lead to ruin
Say, what’s the deal?
It’s not always about what you feel
Say, what’s the reason
The clock hands are so high when you’re leaving
Say, what’s your name?
I can’t remember when you play this game
So hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance
So hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance
Say, what’s your problem?
I promise this ain’t the way to solve them
It’s not in your nature
Oh, to promote this kind of danger
Where is your mind?
I’ve been wondering all this time
Commit your crime
And we’ll be speaking for the last time
So hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance
So hold on, you always want what ya can’t have
And slow down, you know you only get one chance

We Dare
04:35
|
|||
Going out to the city today
There’s a girl down by the lake
She’s got me dreaming ‘bout a new escape
From the long, cold nights and tumbleweed days
Show me skyscrapers and neon lights
The seawall, Lake Shore Drive
See the blue water and deep brown eyes
How I tried to frame this moment in time, singing
You’re not alone, Chicago
And I wonder how
The stars are gonna greet me as I’m rolling south
‘Cause I’m headed home tomorrow
But this ain’t goodbye
It’s only “see you later” till the summertime, yeah
Well, the wok was hot, but the wind was cold,
Now I’m dropping peppers down onto the table
And we walked up and down the empty roads
In the land of the flames where the city kids roam
Got your sunglasses and a black guitar, please
Play me something, just strum from the heart
I wanna stay forever, but it’s getting dark
Gotta make that train, so we’d better run hard, singing
You’re not alone, Chicago
And I wonder how
The stars are gonna greet me as I’m rolling south
‘Cause I’m headed home tomorrow
But this ain’t goodbye
It’s only “see you later” till the summertime, yeah
Grey skies, weather rare
Fog urges, we dare
Grey skies, weather rare
Fog’s urging, gotta take that dare with your
Grey skies and your weather rare
When the fog is urging, gotta take that dare, singing
You’re not alone, Chicago
And I wonder how
The stars are gonna greet me as I’m rolling south
‘Cause I’m headed home tomorrow
But this ain’t goodbye
It’s only “see you later” till the summertime, but
Don’t let me go, Chicago
From my favorite stranger, to a kiss exchanger, yeah
Don’t let me go, Chicago

Matter of Time
04:08
|
|||
There was a girl who lived inside a balloon
Ever floating upwards, she was headed for the moon
Frightened by her altitude, she wanted to come down
‘Cause it's been at least a decade since her feet have felt the ground
And she knew there was a mountain she must climb
Yet the girl believed that someday she would shine
All the other children failed to realize
It's just a matter of time
There was a boy who lived inside of a mirror
Leaving his reflection to confront the things he feared
Weary of his solitude, he broke the wall of glass
Then he jumped into the real world and he landed on his ass
And he knew there was a mountain he must climb
But the boy believed that someday he would shine
All the other children failed to realize
It's just a matter of time
There is a girl who can make the whole world smile
Never will admit it, as she does it all the while
Everybody counts on her to brighten up the day
Yes I swear the girl's an angel, there is just no other way
There is a boy with a funny sounding voice
Wants to be a singer, though it's not the wisest choice
Always writing melodies and poetry for fun
Still he wonders if his chance to be a star will ever come
And they know there is a mountain they must climb
But the kids believe that someday they will shine
All the other children fail to realize
It's just a matter of time
It's just a matter of time
It’s just a matter of time
It’s just a matter of time
There is a pair that lies underneath the sky
Both of them are praying that their feelings never die
Quietly admiring the spectacle above
It's the mystery, the beauty, and the innocence of love
That's the mystery, the beauty, and the innocence of love

Streamwood
06:42
|
|||
I was scared right into the bluest state of mind
Terrified of the unknown, and leaving this behind
‘Cause I’ll never feel another fall in Streamwood
Or hear my brother breathing from the top bunk in my bedroom back home (oh no, no)
And he will never love you quite like I could, ‘cause I was living for you
Yeah I was living for you, and I was dying too
Oh what a thing to do
So I ran away, to meet the hands of time
And plead with them to let go of me
But I was turned away, yeah they slapped me in the face
And said “son, you’ve got no time to waste”
And it’s true, I’m done wasting my days on you
‘Cause there’s nothing else to do
So I guess that means we’re through
Now the winter’s forgotten how to say goodbye
The snow in my face, it disguises the tears in my eyes
Then the sun came, and made all the clouds disappear
A beautiful bird landed on my should and whispered her song in my ear
She said she’s from a little town called Streamwood
Where you can hear the coyotes and the train horn and the cracks in the road
Or so I’m told
Walking through a shower on a Sunday, hiding under a tree
Beneath the wet leaves, just you and me
And there’s nowhere else I’d rather be
It’s so comfortable from the passenger side
Wondering where the sky meets the street
But I’ve come to find you’ve got to take the wheel and drive
Don’t know where we’re going, but I just can’t wait to arrive
